A list of assignments to 200 and 300 level courses will be posted by the beginning of Advanced Registration on the department website. If you accept your spot in your assigned course, you will be enrolled by the end of Advanced Registration.
If you are a student studying abroad, you should also submit an application for 200-level seminars and 300-level research experience courses. This can be done by emailing your request to cingulli@psych.upenn.edu by 5 p.m. EST on Wednesday March 14, 2007.
Instructions for Advanced Registration
Advanced Registration occurs from March 19-April 1, 2007. During Advanced Registration all sophomore and junior majors will be placed on registration hold until their Psychology Major Worksheets are approved by an advisor. Psychology Major Worksheets can be accessed online at the Psychology Dept. website.
JUNIORS: Juniors are not required to meet with an advisor during this period. However, they must have their Psychology Major Worksheet approved. Psychology Major Worksheets can be accessed online at the department website. Please drop off a copy of your Worksheet to Room B24, Solomon Lab Building by Friday March 16, 2007. If approved, you will be taken off registration hold. If there is a problem, you will be contacted by e-mail to come in for a meeting during the second week of advance registration. Any junior who needs to meet with an advisor during Advanced Registration is welcome to sign up for an appointment; please visit the department website to sign up (the web-based sign-up system will be operational
by the 3rd week of March).
SOPHOMORES: All sophomores are required to meet with an advisor during Advanced Registration. Please visit the Psychology Department website to sign up for an appointment (the web-based sign-up system will be operational
by the 3rd week of March). * Your Psychology Major Worksheet must be completed prior to your advising meeting.* Psychology Major Worksheets can be accessed online at the department website.
STUDENTS STUDYING ABROAD: Students currently abroad will not be placed on registration hold, and they should register as usual. However, they should plan to meet with an advisor upon return to Philadelphia.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Signing up for an Advising Session: During Advanced Registration, there will be extended advising hours, from 12-3:00pm every afternoon in Room B24 of the Solomon Lab Building. These advising hours are primarily for sophomores. Students must sign up for an appointment in advance. Please visit the Psychology Department website to sign up (the web-based sign-up system will be operational by the 3rd week of March). Simply authenticate yourself with your Penn Key, enter your name, and then click on the "reserve" button for the appointment you want.
Because these meetings are intended to be brief checks that the student is on the right course, rather than extended discussions, they will be scheduled at 10 minute intervals. More extended advising sessions will resume after Advanced Registration is over.
Independent Study: Students have until the end of the “Add” period in the Fall semester to enroll in a 399. Please visit the department website for more information and an application form.
Psychology Society Advising: Many students find it useful to get advice from other undergraduates in selecting their courses. For this reason the Undergraduate Psychology Society and Psi Chi will hold a coffee and advising session TBA. They will email you with more details.
