Effect of Migration Cost and Lethality on Pathogen Spread

This simulation focuses specifically on the balance between human populations and pathogen populations, an aspect of ecological security. The more general framework of ecological security can also be seen in this model. The balance between natural systems (blue), otherspecies (green), humans (yellow) and pathogens (red) is a central focus of ecological security. By varying the cost of migration one can see that the capacity to migrate effects otherspecies(causing the population size to decrease) as well as the rate of pathogen spread. In this simulation each colored square (besides blue) represents a population of agents, not a single agent and the lighter the shade, the greater the population size of the group.
